Do any of you remember the phrase, "Murphy baby"? I vaguely remember seeing a black and white photo of this really cute, chubby kid on advertisements. My memory is probably served more by my mom's descriptions of the baby rather than faded images that I saw in my childhood. My mom said the baby was the advertising mascot for Indian radio.
So, do any one of you happen to remember how the baby looked? I looked on google and couldn't find one and for some reason I feel like looking at a picture of this baby.

I'am also searching for the same thing. I have seen it in my Childhood, but my wife doesn't know about it. Please share the photo if anyone happens to get it.

No luck :( At least google did not find it for me.
I had many correspondence with Malayala Manorama and their research team also failed to find a photograph of the baby. However, finally I have found a photograph of an old Murphy Valve Radio with the baby’s face on it, not much clear, but enough to refresh the memory.

nice to see people thinking on the same lines..i thought i was pretty much alone in the dark ocean when setting out to search for the murphy baby logo...well the ocean is still dark and the search is still on....but feeling quite comfortable that there are more fellow humans around....all the best...
I remember this baby was chuby,little wavy hair and his one finger in his mouth and I just visited my Cousin's baby who poses like him and looks like him too.

Same here. even my daugter resembles the famed murphy baby:). i mean, thats what her grandparents say. as everybody else here, i tried my luck with the poster and no success. I tried finding it in chor bazaar (mumbai) also!the shopkeepers kept saying, they get these images quite often, but none of them actually had it. I tried couple of radio dealers, but no use. I hope our collective will will help us get it!!

I asked my mom about the murphy baby but I was shocked to hear about the cute beautiful baby in the advertisement. She said that soon after the advertisement, she was not alive any more.
'Murphy baby' was related to us. She did not die that early. She passed away few years ago after getting married and having children at Kolhapur, Maharashtra.
i wish to refute Mr. Anonymous' claims of the Murphy Baby being 'her' and having died after few years of her marriage. First, Murphy Baby was a boy..

It is very surprising that Murphy baby is still alive and the husband of actress Mandakini as reported on India Tv today.
Friends... Murphy baby is very much alive. His name is Dr. Kigyor renpoche n is mandakini's husband. Today I saw his pic n interview on india tv n india tv has announced that they will do a special show on murphy baby very soon

1. Original Murphy Baby was a girl who actually died.
2. After her death, new murphy baby was Kagyur Tulku Rinpoche, who's husband of actress Mandakini and now is a monk.
I found some reference and here Kagyur admits that he was not the original Murphy Baby

This is the iconic Murphy baby pic which was on all posters and ads of 70s .... My grandma used to have one poster in her house ... The one who did this ad is now mandakini's husband!!
I am 71, a late entrant to"Reflections". We took a photo of our grandson who is 45 days old. The photo came out with is little forefinger on his lips, similar to Murphy Baby. It took me a fraction of a second to recall those ads in early 60s. It was then the most popular ad for radios; I dont think anyone who had seen could ever forget. I really enjoy sharing this reflection with all you. God bless you.
